There are very few sources available to Interns who need assistance in preparing for the exam, especially with the new computerized format now being utilized. Since 1990, Professor Dorf has been teaching exam preparation courses and conducting workshops for the graphic divisions at the New York Institute of Technology, Puerto Rico College of Architecture, the University of Houston, New York University, the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto, and has lectured on the A.R.E. for many years at the annual AIA Convention. He lectured in Seoul, Korea for their Interns in the Spring of 2001.
For those Interns unable to attend these workshops, he initiated a Home-Study Course in 1997, which has proven to be successful for Interns in the US, Canada and abroad.

Mock Exams
(pencil & paper version)
The mock exams offered have been specifically designed to test what a candidate can expect on the actual computer examination, including many issues not shown in the NCARB tutorial practice problems. Completed solutions will be marked up, graded, and returned with written comments. Professor Dorf will be available 24 hours a day (well .. almost) to answer, by phone or email, any of your concerns or questions, including those last-minute questions the day before the test. Pass rate for those taking these is 94%.

Mock Exams
(computer version)
Vignette problems designed to be used with NCARB’S practice software. Problems use identical base drawings, but the programs have been sufficiently revised to create entirely different solutions. Sample solutions are mailed to you with the new programs for your use. These problems are especially useful for practicing solving problems within the suggested time limitations.

NCARB Tutorial Solutions
NCARB does not provide solutions to their tutorial practice computer problems so that candidates may make judgments on scoring issues for their own solutions. Mr. Dorf provides analyses and sample solutions to those NCARB practice tutorial problems.
